Hongmeiren oranges ripen in Huayuan County

Nov Wed 2024
In early winter, Hongmeiren oranges are ripe in a demonstration planting base of Yangjiazhai Village, Huayuan County.

Hongmeiren orange has thin skin, thick flesh, high moisture content, and high sweetness, and is easy to be stored. At present, the base mainly cultivates Ehime-ken No.28 (Hongmeiren), a new hybrid citrus variety from Japan.

It is the third year that the village collective has introduced the Hongmeiren orange. A total of 200 mu (about 13.33 hectares) of Hongmeiren oranges have been planted, with an expected output of about 10,000 kilograms and an output value of up to 200,000 yuan.

An industrial chain that integrates planting, management, picking, and sales has been developed, driving local employment and increasing villagers’ income.

With the help of the county department of agriculture and rural areas, relying on Shibadong Digital Agricultural Company, the planting base adopts a development model of company plus cooperative plus base plus farmer.

Through continuous innovation, and multiple measures, it works to develop characteristic industries according to local conditions, continuously improves farmers’ planting enthusiasm, and promotes income growth of the village collective and farmers.
